About

The Northern Michigan Opioid Workforce Alliance (NMOWA) began as a collaborative effort in 2019 between Northwest Michigan Works!, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, and Michigan Works! Region 7B in response to the devastating effects of opioid use that continues to significantly impact the lives of people throughout our 24-county region and beyond.

The NMOWA was created to provide connections, resources, mentoring, training, and career services, as well as critical needs supportive services for individuals and families affected by opioid addiction. Our goal is to come alongside those impacted by opioids, focusing on sustainable employment, along with a support network, to improve the likelihood of long-term success.

The video below, created by four 8th grade students from Traverse City, looks at how opioids effect our community.

We are seeking to expand and bolster the work already underway in our communities to alleviate the opioid crisis. If you would like to partner with us in this endeavor, please contact us!
